چکیده

It is demonstrated that field ionization mass spectrometry has a potential application for the detection of neutral species involved in organic plasmas. In FI mass spectra of r.f. glow discharge plasmas of aromatic compounds, reaction products were detected mainly at higher mass regions, reflecting that polymerization reactions were leading processes in these plasmas. For olefine compounds, on the other hand, signals due to reaction products appeared in a wide mass range, thus indicating that decomposition reactions, too, were strongly enhanced in the plasmas of these compounds.

Ion Transport and Focal Properties of an Ellipsoidal Electrode Operated at Atmospheric Pressure

Most frequently, ions are transported from ambient pressure and manipulated under low pressure conditions. While a vacuum environment is necessary to make precise measurements of an ion’s mass-to charge ratio, the ability to effectively control ion trajectories and spatially manipulate ions without the use of vacuum systems is of great interest in a number of different fields. Modifications to ...

A Beginner's Guide to Mass Spectrometry of Fatty

At its simplest, mass spectrometry (MS) is a technique in which organic molecules are bombarded by electrons or other ionic species causing them to ionize and fragment. We use the fragmentation patterns as a means of identification. If you pick up a journal dealing with mass spectrometry, there will be a host of technical terms dealing with methods of ionization especially, such as "electrospra...

Molecular Characterization of Organosulfur Compounds in Biodiesel and Diesel Fuel Secondary Organic Aerosol.

Secondary organic aerosol (SOA), formed in the photooxidation of diesel fuel, biodiesel fuel, and 20% biodiesel fuel/80% diesel fuel mixture, are prepared under high-NOx conditions in the presence and absence of sulfur dioxide (SO2), ammonia (NH3), and relative humidity (RH). The composition of condensed-phase organic compounds in SOA is measured using several complementary techniques including...

Molecular characterization of organic aerosols using nanospray-desorption/electrospray ionization-mass spectrometry.

Nanospray desorption electrospray ionization (nano-DESI) combined with high-resolution mass spectrometry (HR-MS) is a promising approach for the detailed, molecular-level chemical characterization of atmospheric organic aerosols (OA) collected in laboratory and field experiments. The nano-DESI technique possesses distinct advantages of technical simplicity, enhanced sensitivity, and signal stab...
